EIN
Business tax ID. It identifies the business for federal tax purposes.
Payment platforms
An EIN can be part of the record. But payment platforms may also review identity, ownership, control, business address, website, bank account, products, and risk.
Read the exact Stripe request. Do not guess.
If the message asks for business tax information, that may involve the EIN and legal business name. If the message asks for identity or business verification, that may involve the representative, owners, address, website, bank account, or business activity.
Business tax ID. It identifies the business for federal tax purposes.
The name tied to the entity or tax record. It must be handled separately from a trade name or website brand.
The person responsible for the account may need to be identified and verified.
Platforms may ask about people who own or control the business.
A registered-agent address, mailbox, foreign office, and actual operating location are not the same thing.
A platform may look at what the business sells, how it ships, refund rules, support contact, and public website.
Do not pretend you are in the United States if you are not. The better path is to understand which field asks for the U.S. entity, which field asks for the person, which field asks for the actual business location, and which field asks for a mailing or support address.
If your business is foreign-owned, say so where the platform asks. If you use a registered agent, mailbox, or virtual office, do not treat that as proof that the business operates there unless that is actually true and accepted for the specific field.
A customer may think, "Stripe keeps rejecting my EIN."
Sometimes the real problem is not the EIN by itself. The request may be about identity, beneficial ownership, business address, bank account, website, product risk, or missing documents.
The fix starts by reading the exact request and separating the roles.
